Learning at CA

At California Academy, our primary focus is on students and a fundamental principle: learning through enjoyment. We strive to bring the best learning resources and educational opportunities within reach of our students.

In the late 2000s, a dedicated education advocate named Morgan Lee joined California Academy. He embarked on a mission to nurture his passion for the study of life. Drawing from his own experience of attending high school and college concurrently in the 90s, Morgan Lee introduced world-renowned university resources to high school campuses. His commitment to education led to the creation of early university experiences for CA students, empowering them to discover their academic interests at a young age.

Today, Morgan’s unwavering dedication to learning through enjoyment is evident in the work of every academic department, afternoon activity, field study, academic partnership, and various other special school-wide programs at CA. We proudly refer to this approach as the “Morgan Method,” which underscores the importance of creating a joyful and engaging learning environment for all our students.

PRACTICAL LEARNING

Young Scholars

California Academy fosters a dynamic 24/7 learning community that captivates students through directed discovery learning. Whether in the science lab or the humanities classroom, our faculty serve as learning coaches, guiding students in an active learning environment. Here, they not only acquire a foundational body of knowledge but also learn the art of inquiry and investigation, utilizing the latest methods employed by scholars and researchers.

Our problem-based mathematics program goes beyond mere skill practice in isolated units. Instead, students are taken on a journey through advanced calculus by solving real-life problems that often integrate multiple branches of mathematics. Through collaborative efforts with their peers and teacher, students develop robust problem-solving skills.

In our business program, our dedicated faculty empower students to apply theoretical ideas into practical settings. Through teamwork, students work towards achieving their entrepreneurial goals, honing their collaborative skills along the way.

In our Afternoon Activities, our AI and robotics program intertwines mathematics and science. Students collaborate in teams to design and construct autonomous robots, participating in national and international competitions. This hands-on experience equips them with essential principles of engineering, teamwork, and design.

Throughout our academic program, students are at the heart of California Academy’s educational approach. They actively participate in designing their own education, engaging in classes that blend content, theory, and hands-on activities. This fusion creates immersive, multi-disciplinary learning experiences that empower students to thrive.
